First butterflies that I've noticed at home a couple of small whites and 3 little brown jobbies ian Could your "little brown jobbies" be moths? The only brownish butterfly on the wing (just starting) are Speckled Woods, which aren't particularly small. Had 2 Peacocks chasing each other yesterday morning just as it was warming up. Don't think I'll see any today as rather soggy outside.

I thought they were small tortoiseshell or comma that sort of size and the 3 were flying around each other as if in a mating flight. It was a warm and sunny part of the day ian

I thought they were small tortoiseshell or comma that sort of size and the 3 were flying around each other as if in a mating flight. It was a warm and sunny part of the day ian They're both on the wing as they hibernate as adults so maybe one of those, though I didn't associate them with your description.

After doing some gardening for my father I wanted to tidy up around the front path & was rewarded at the end by my first Holly Blue, a male, of the year.

My first decent UK butterfly day this year.
At Long Wood where I had a group we had 3 Peacocks, 4 Brimstones & my first 2 male Orange Tips of the year.
Afterwards I popped into a small local nature reserve where they were holding a bio-blitz & saw female Brimstone, pair of Orange Tip, an unidentified white, Speckled Wood & 3 Holly Blues.
In the garden saw Speckled Wood, Holly Blue, a male & female Brimstone & 2 Small Whites.

Went up to Hutchinson's & adjacent Chapel Banks today near Croydon. Weather was supposed to fairly sunny, but cloud dominated. At least fairly warm.
Brimstones were most numerous with at least 15 individuals. Also 2 Comma, 4 Peacock Speckled Wood, 3 Green-veined White, 2 male Orange Tip.
At Chapel Bank the sun appeared at the right time & at least 6 small & feisty Duke of Burgundies were active in the sun & settling when the cloud appeared. Relief at getting my main target as the next week or so looks very unsettled & not ideal for butterfly trips.
I was also hoping for maybe Green Hairstreak & Dingy or Grizzled Skippers, but none today.
Did see a few Glanville Fritillary caterpillars that hopefully will emerge before the end of the month.

A pretty overcast day, but fairly warm & as I was leaving the London Wetland Centre, 2 male Brimstones became active with one then settling to nectar from a Bluebell.
At home later saw a Holly Blue & Small White.
