A single Red Admiral in the flower garden in Richmond Park on what was a warm but blustery day.

A Red Admiral & at least 2 Small Whites at RHS Hyde Hall yesterday where the weather was much better than forecast, though a torrential downpour while I was on the tube close to home.

Surprised to find a fairly fresh Painted Lady on some Cosmos in the gardens of Fulham Palace today.
Also a brief flight view of a Red Admiral.

At least 7 Small Whites today with at least 5 over the bird-seed crop, dominated by various Brassicas which hopefully will bring in some decent winter finch flocks as in some previous seasons. Most Small Whites I've seen so late in the season, but about 20C today.
Also a more expected Red Admiral around a nettle patch.

My first butterflies this month with 2 very obliging Red Admirals feeding up on some open flowered Chrysanthemums at Wisley. Certainly not likely to see any more over the next few days as it looks quite wet again.

Amazed to get 3 butterfly species so late in the year but the weather was exceptional for mid- November.
A Red Admiral, Small White & on some ivy flowers at the station, my latest ever Holly Blue.

I was in Holland Park this morning for a pre-Xmas lunch meeting when one of our group spotted a Red Admiral outside the cafe we were meeting in before going to a restaurant.
It looked pretty fresh & basked on some low foliage before flying up onto a Holly.

After temperatures down to -6C last week it was a surprise to see a Red Admiral in flight today in Kew Gardens, though a pleasantly mild, sunny day.

After seeing so many butterfly photos in recent weeks finally saw my first butterfly of the year at lunch time- a male Brimstone flying past at Kew Gardens.

Though feeling pretty chilly at times today, there was some warmth in the occasional sunny spells which yielded a Comma & male Brimstone at Kew today.

After a cool, grey morning (following a pretty soggy week other than Monday) the sun came out this afternoon & my first Small White (a male) visited the garden & took advantage of the purple perennial wallflower.
