Quite a bit colder down south, but no snow forecast for us as of yet.

Finally us Southerners got a bit of snow, too... yesterday started with some spectacular cloud colours, but the sun quickly disappeared and then the snow came down thick and fast. It was just cold enough for it to lay, and it built up in a hurry... our pond had a layer of ice on it within an hour or so. Just after lunchtime it stopped and the nearby playing fields were full of people out making the most of it. I don't think it got much deeper than 5cm and was a bit slushy, but at this point I think any excuse to get outdoors will do. I counted over 30 snowmen, (or attempts at snowmen... I think people suddenly realised just how heavy a solid boulder of compacted snow really weighs) but the atmosphere was very jolly with dogs running about like lunatics, children sledding down the one very small slope, and quite a few snowball fights going on. A bit of thin filtered sunlight this morning, but it's not supposed to last- the mild weather is about to take a turn downwards and we're due to have a VERY cold few days ahead.

It rained heavily again last night and it must be going to get bad because I got an email from the water company today telling me to wrap the outside tap up and lag me pipes ian

Temps falling to below freezing at night, and barely getting much above 1 or 2 degrees during the day.
Our pond is quite solidly frozen over, (the sparrows were skittering around on it today) and I'm thawing out the birdbath several times throughout the day.

Snowing when I first looked out of the window this morning, but now it's sunny but windy. Still I'm going to make a flask and have a ride out to Besthorpe ian

As I look out the window the sun is shining and there are snowflakes blowing about. I'm glad I held off on putting out those bedding plants. Happy Easter Monday!

An extremely vibrant pink and gold sunrise, and the about half an hour later a small snow flurry.
We could really do with some proper rain, and that's something I never thought I'd need to say in mid-April! I'm going to need to water the garden in the next day or so... there's none being forecast.

Rain! The first we've had all month. It's also chilly and gusty, but at least this will keep the grass going.

It's turned extremely warm down south... it's supposed to last through tomorrow, and then the rain is coming.

A bit cloudy now but this morning in east London was excellent. Just the right combination, for me, of cold air and warm sunshine. Unfortunately, it is unlikely there will be many more such days in the next month or two.
