Far too hot for me today. Hope we get a bit of a shower later(possible thunderstorms according to the Met Office) to cool things.

By the time I returned from a walk at about 9am it was already, for me, too hot and too humid. Unfortunately, the day was only just limbering up then and now it is horrible.

Been into the 30s for a few days now, where I live in Kent. Local weather station reported a max of 34 yesterday, and the same is forecast for today. My idea of a comfortable summer's day is partly cloudy, a gentle breeze and 20 C. So, I am hunkered down indoors, in front of fans! I did catch the edge of a storm this morning. First rain in August this year. But the sun has come out with a vengence ever since! Roll on the next ice-age.

34 here today too... we got the fans out of the loft for the first time in several years, and had to keep one of them running overnight.
I needed to get out and do some work in the garden, but that's not happening today! Did a quick watering of the flowerpots first thing this morning, moved some of the more sensitive ones into the shade and then straight back indoors.
I remember when Greece was getting temps in the 40s+ back in May... this is bad enough, so I don't know how people bear that!

I must frustrate everybody as I love the heat. Does not seem to stop me doing anything. Last summer cycle touring in France in the 40℃ heatwave and another couple cycling took the train and I cycled on through it. Earlier this year is SE Asia I'd be out walking round places through midday heat (which also happened to be when they were largely deserted).
I do have to be a bit careful as my "motivation" (to see/do) seems to block "common sense" e.g. in SE Asia wandering around in the heat, dripping with sweat I'd get back to hostel and suddenly realise I was still carrying round a full water bottle (having drunk nothing since a coffee for breakfast) - just so engrossed it what I'm doing I forget things like drinking.

You must have quite a tolerance for high temps, Ian... I can't imagine being that hot and forgetting to drink! (I'd have guzzled the entire bottle in the first hour, probably.)
It's nearly 35c and just turned 11:00... supposed to hit 37c by noon.
Snowlynx has an app on his phone that shows where lightning strikes are, and last night it looked as though a fireworks display was going off over Liverpool. There must have been big storms up that way.

It's around 24 deg at present expected 30 deg so not as hot as yesterday although you'll hardly be able to tell the difference Sat outside last night hoping for some shooting star action but the only flashes were sheet lightning no thunder no rain and just as the street lights went out 12 o/clock the clouds rolled in so I finished my tot of monkey shoulder and went to bed still lightning around 4 am ian

I'm pretty much with you Bryan.
Anything up to about 22C with some breeze is fine for me. While this current 30C+ heat wave is due to end tomorrow I note the Met Office forecast for the Olympic Park(which isn't far from me) tomorrow shows a high of 29C .
At present there is a 60% chance of a thunderstorm this afternoon, but the forecast changes rapidly, still fingers crossed.

The heavens opened Thursday night and we had quite a deluge. Everything has been thoroughly soaked, and everything in the garden is perking up again. Much cooler, too! Only 18c this morning... what a difference.

I'm certainly not complaining about the overly warm September temps- long may they continue! It feels as though Autumn has come around too quickly this year... I do dread the long winter nights.

Only 21.3 max today. Plenty of sunshine but the easterly breeze has kept a chill on it especially whilst in the shade.

So much rain over the past few days! It is unusual for it to be such a steady downpour for entire days at a time- I keep a large plant pot saucer on the garden table to collect rainwater for the houseplants, and it's been overflowing frequently, despite me emptying. I go out and fill the feeders and the sparrows sit in the hedge looking out waiting for a lull before they dash out and grab a bite.
I know there's been a lot of flooding all around the country- I hope no one here has been affected by it.
