A skein of about 30 geese(comparing their calls to those on xeno-canto I think they might have been white fronted) heading north at around 7:30 this morning.
The direction seemed odd for this time of year but they might have been going for some good feeding. There are a couple of fields a few miles north where I often see geese grazing.

Stepped outside 7-30ish this morning and a familiar fizz heard as 6/8 redwings flew overhead seconds later another 6/8 followed, early I thought what with the mild weather ian

Sometime you are in the right place at the right time; and luck is with you. I did some strimming earlier today and after retreating for the second time from the rain I decided to call it a day. On my way to having a shower I looked out the bedroom window and wondered what was sitting on a branch - AAGP0228_edited-1 by Dave Marley, on Flickr - it turned to be this - AAGP0226_edited-1-crop by Dave Marley, on Flickr I feel very lucky. I think the sparrowhawk might have adopted the garden. This very short(about 3 seconds) is from a little later close to the back door. Sp1 by Dave Marley, on Flickr Dave

This was yesterday. The recent strong easterly wind appears to have brought in some smaller migrants.
In the last couple of days bramblings have arrived in the village. We had about 8 or so under a bird feeder for a few hours yesterday. The other influx was chaffinches. They are always common but yesterday the garden was full of them. I tried counting them but as they moved so quickly I lost count at around 20.
