Dublin, IE 20 degrees already, though my thermometer in the garden is saying 24! Brilliant sunshine, clear skies and no wind at all. 27 degrees forecast for later today.

NE Cumbria 20C, dry, very little air movement and what cloud there is seems to be clearing fast. Looks set to be a repeat of yesterday - high of 29C in the afternoon - but electrical storms forecast today.

NE Cumbria A bright start but now overcast. 19C, humid and very little air movement. Evidence of rain during the night but predicted thunderstorms didn't materialise West of the Pennines. Yesterday's high locally was 32C in shade.

Crianlarich NW Scotland. Well I don't know about it being record temperatures in Scotland yesterday, only got to 19C yesterday and it was overcast and windy all day! Rain overnight. Now 18C very overcast, slight breeze and a definite damp feel to the air.

Dublin. IE 20 degrees in the garden at the moment, no wind, a few odd clouds but mostly sunshine. 22 degrees forecast for later today. Hottest day was Tuesday at 27 degrees, yesterday was a mere 24, I think!

In Gairloch it is now 16C, drizzling, with total cloud cover, almost dead calm and midge heaven.
Apart from the midges it is really pleasant, unlike yesterday. I drove from Inverness and the car thermometer never dropped below 25C and was 28C at Achnasheen; too hot for me.

NE Cumbria Seems I was wrong about the thunder storms in yesterday's post - put straight by my wife when she emerged from the bedroom- seems I slept through it all! Humidity and lack of air movement was the problem yesterday and today seems set to be similar. After a cool start, already 19C, not a cloud in the sky and only the slightest of breezes. Forecast for electrical storms and torrential rain tonight.

Crianlarich NW Scotland 19C fair bit of blue sky and sunny, just a slight breeze. Rained overnight. Think it is the lull before the storm as weather forecast not good for the week-end.

Gairloch It has been very sunny since around 9am. There are a few clouds but it is well over 80% cloud free, gentle breeze and 22C in the shade.

NE Cumbria 14C, easterly breeze, overcast - getting darker and raining heavily. Had hoped I had slept through the predicted thunderstorms again but some serious rumbles of thunder happening right now. Best put kettle on while we still have power!

Gairloch 08:00 14C, cloudy and a bit breezy. The sky looked a little odd earlier this morning. I'm guessing it was due to the storms further south which never made it here. Dave Sky by Wabi Gallery, on Flickr

Dublin, IE 15 degrees, cloudy with light breeze. Brightening up with the sun breaking through now and again. Rain was promised for last night but it was nothing more than a drizzly shower.

Crianlarich NW Scotland Yesterday evening was lovely and sunny, delight in all the insects bees and bumbles flying around and the swallows chattering. What a difference a day makes - 11C low cloud, heavy rain, stiff breeze.
