I'm a bit late posting this, but on Thursday evening I twice caught a glimpse of a Roe deer at Woodwalton Fen, Cambs.

The fox appeared just after dusk, after not being seen in over a week. I was starting to get worried about him, so was pleased he paid a visit, (even if he did have a good root around in my calendulas. ) He likes using the birdbath as a waterbowl.

My mammal of the day is harri the stoat. She has been in rescue for 3 weeks or so, having been found by a member of the public trying to die on a woodland path. Today she has been transferred to a specialist wildlife rescue who have another orphaned stoat. together they will conquer the world. stoat1 by Wabi Gallery, on Flickr

She is so sweet Farplace, hope she continues to get better. My mammal of the day (last night really) was one of our Common Pipistrelles, not seen them for about 3 weeks so lovely sight

I was really pleased to find last night the trail camera picked up two hedgehogs snaffling bread and jam, and peanuts. I haven't seen a live hedgehog (and very few dead ones) for well over five years.

Four Brown Hares on my early morning walk this morning

This one popped in for a very brief visit this morning at about 8am. It is fairly unusual to see them during the day but at this time of the year the nights are very short so a daylight sighting does happen now and again. I think there is also more pressure for food due to having young. Unfortunately I did not have time to get a better shot - too slow a shutter speed so it is not really sharp Dave Pine Martin by Wabi Gallery, on Flickr

Very quiet on the walk this morning, one butterfly and nothing else until we were nearly back to the car park and - another Brown Hare, lifts the spirits.

It looks perfectly sharp to me.

My mammal of the day has to be the fox napping at the base of a tree in the garden. Obviously someone has had a late night out!

Thanks Rowan, but the shot could have been better. I think it is one of this year's young. It is smaller than two others we see and it can hardly sit still; which is why I grabbed a quick shot - don't all animals turn up when you are not expecting them?
I like your fox shot. A good capture of a fox relaxing. Foxes, and quite a few other animals, have become so used to people that they appear to feel comfortable in gardens now, which is great because we get some good sightings. Have to say I have never seen a fox in a non-urban environment.

Just seen this in the back garden - through the mucky window photo of a House Mouse, it's usually Wood Mice we see so this was really great Shirl House Mouse by Wabi Gallery, on Flickr
