Well not actually today but last week, 2 Roe deer on Sunday 10th and another on the 13th in a different location - we haven't got many records of them in Derbyshire so it was an exciting find.

Today I was seeking reptiles in a secluded spot when I heard a noise a few metres away when a Muntjac appeared out of the brambles, looking back at me, but not too bothered.

I was thrilled over the last couple of days to see my first Wild Boar in the UK in the Forest of Dean. My first group was of 7 sows/sub-adults with at least a dozen stripy youngsters.Later in the evening going for Nightjars we saw another 3 + then on the other side of the path just 30 feet from us was a sow rummaging in the tussocky grass with 2 piglets totally unconcerned by our presence + a little time after crossing the footpath behind us.
Also quite a few Fallow Deer seen + several bats (not sure of the species but I would say larger than Pipistrelles) hawking insects around my head, looping up and down, while others were feeding by the top of the oak.

It's been a hedgehoggy day (well yesterday was). My little sick one went to the wildlife place and the fit and healthy one was munching some food when I peeked out just after dark.

Out for a run last night and had a Fox run in front of me. 5mins later had 5 Fox in a field, 4 cubs, I'm guessing there's a den there somewhere
