Well you can't get away from it seems like were all in for some frustrating and fearful times. I'd say I'm well in the at risk group but I'm going to continue to get out and about best I can fortunately the places I tend to visit you seldom see anybody else let alone talk to them, other than a nod. I'll keep practicing the social distancing whilst out and about as for self isolating not an easy option in your average home, but hey ho. I hope you'all keep safe and don't stress to much. They'll get a vaccine for it sooner or later then we can all book an appointment with the doctor and get it voluntarily ian

Can I start off by saying I hope everyone is in good health and remains safe throughout this terrible time. However, I’m completely disgusted by this government’s effort, that’s not a political statement either since I’m not what could be described as a political animal but simply because there are a certain percentage of politicians who aren’t sincere or what could be regarded as trust worthy people. It’s also interesting to note those in power were warned as long ago as 2018 about the situation we now find ourselves in since they received a scientific paper spelling out in vivid frightening detail of the incoming pestilence; involving the (respiratory system) so what did this government do about the scientific paper, they completely ignored it of course presumably because the cost of taking appropriate action e.g. protective clothing and ventilators etc. was seen as a way too expensive course to follow. I also noticed another scientist who leaked out this information just recently hasn’t been seen since, although that’s not unusual since whistle blowers working in the medical profession are not threatened as they should be shall I say, when they should be given a medal for goodness sake. I also noticed those in the halls of power had the bare face cheek to clap and congratulate the NHS on their magnificence work when not too long ago they refused to give the workers a pay rise, presumably because they considered the NHS particularly our wonderful nurses weren’t worthy. At this point I feel like repeating my dear late brother’s thoughts on those in the halls of power although I fear the profanities aren’t suitable to repeat, but needless to say metabolic waste featured quite heavily. And what if the “virus mutates” into something far worst, since this inept clueless government mostly (hooray Henry’s) are unable to see the wood from the trees, although they seem to have no problem in blasting grouse from the sky’s whilst the rest of the poor wildlife has to be exterminated in their silly quest; completely destroying the biodiversity of the precious ecosystem. However, my thoughts remain with “all the grossly underpaid members of the medical fraternity” including the members of our family who work in the said profession holding the firm line working very long hours without suitable safety equipment for a great deal of the time I might add; I also have one family member who works in social care without any safety equipment at all, so those in the halls of power are obviously being economic with the truth to put it mildly. And why are so many dying in care homes given the early scientist warning; I can only conclude this government clearly have a lot to answer for; including starving the NHS of money over the years, in the hope they could “completely privatise it” no doubt. Incidentally, on the question of Captain Tom Moore I can only say the man really is a hero, since not only is he the owner of the Burma star having fought in world war two but he’s still fighting this time for money to give to the NHS. What’s more he must have seen things during the war that you and I simply cannot imagine, so he should now receive a knighthood plus a George medal plus a great big statue somewhere in a very prominent position God bless him. I would also like to mention the whole question of globalisation since it clearly has a lot to answer for too throughout history, including the Spanish conquest of the New World where one-third of the total native population was wiped out by the common cold since they didn’t have any immunity, not to mention the Spanish flu in which millions of people died, in fact I’d go one further and say globalisation is a very bad idea, since its causes all kinds of pollution not to mention global warming on a scale never seen before. In fact if this carries on than flooding will only continue to get far worse throughout the world. Nonetheless, I truly hope the world has now seen the light at last and lets technology take over which will reduce the need to travel abroad since it doesn’t make sense any longer given the reasons I’ve outlined; especially as the British Isles has some of the most beautiful countryside in the world. However, in regard to pollution if one should think about it what would you rather have, continuing to have holidays abroad etc. or no planet due to various types of pollution including flying; and yes it really is that serous according to our top scientists not to mention Sir David Attenborough. Unfortunately, the stupidity of this government knows no bounds since they have no intentions of testing those whom are entering this country as their letting passengers walk straight out of the airport and into the community. So presumable their working on the principle of herd immunity, I. e. those who get the disease will either die or become immune, and yet they still have no idea that having caught it will guarantee immunity. And yet dogs are quarantined in order to stop rabies spreading; so if the former remains the case then coronavirus will remain the status quo “for ever” since I don’t believe a vaccine will ever be able to cope while their policy of not testing people entering the country remains. Nevertheless, the following (links) are quite interesting too although I find this very alarming since it’s another case of self-inflicted pestilence by those whom failed to take action because of man’s greed; (the basic human condition) the depletion of the planet’s resources being a perfect example. David Attenborough’s new film due to be sent to all the world’s leaders. www.ourplanet.com/en/video/david-attenborough-a-life-on-our-planet-trailer/www.nytimes.com/2019/08/04/world/europe/russia-siberia-yakutia-permafrost-global-warming.html

Hope everyone who is staying at home and needs to restrict contact is doing well and getting all they need by deliveries.
I'm not sure what is most scary, that Donald Trump is the president or that a major political party is willing to put up with his loathsome remarks, gaffs and dangerous comments so they can stay in power.
One of his recent comments came after one poll is suggesting Joe Biden could win the next election and during a White House interview with Reuters Trump said,
"I don't believe the polls, I believe the people of this country are smart. And I don't think that they will put a man in who's incompetent."
You couldn't make it up!

I'm getting a tad frustrated with local walks and sitting in the garden I've been really good but I keep thinking about some police guide lines I read a couple of weeks ago where you can drive to the country side for a walk if the drive is shorter than the walk. I'd only feel guilty about doing it if I did but doesn't stop me thinking and my favorite places are very quite and only a 20/30 minute drive away ian PS. pass me another glass of wine dear I'll be out back.

I think the police guidance about driving to exercise as long as the exercise takes much longer than the drive was poorly thought out, which surprises me as I think it was developed with the CPS.
There must be quite a few who could drive to the Lake District or the Peak in about an hour and then easily walk for four or five hours. According to the police guidance that is "likely to be reasonable"
I think I understand the intention of the guidance but I think it could have been made clearer. There will always be some who want to get around the rules and this could be seen as an invitation.

All this could have been avoided in 2018 or even 2016 which would have saved thousands of lives according to my family members whom work in the NHS. But then again NHS workers seldom blow the whistle on what’s going on since if they did they would no longer work in the NHS including the mental health department when they should be given a medal, but I’m afraid it isn’t run sensibly by those wielding the power since it’s all about cutting corners and saving money. Blood on the governments’ hands, only you can decide, but murder is the word I’m hearing on this clueless inept government; if not inept then why were the elderly having recovered from the virus sent back to their care home when everyone knows the test isn’t one hundred per cent accurate and has to be taken every day since the value of the test only lasts one day. Interestingly enough I now hear the government is now considering travel by air when most people know it’s not safe to do so even if the numbers are restricted and wearing masks and sit further apart, since the same air is recirculated. Now what I’m going to say next can be taken with a pinch of salt but the Jehovah witnesses must be increasing in numbers since the (plague) was also foreseen in the New Testament- revelations the four horse men of the apocalypse, especially when a plague of locust was seen recently again foretold according to revelations. It could well be just a load of rubbish of course, and you may well be right but nonetheless I still find it interesting; since I was born with an inquiring mind. I also find it interesting that T. S. Eliot’s poem (the hollow men now that’s quite a title is it not since it speaks of those who failed to take action. It’s also interesting to note it ends as follows - (this is the way the world ends not with a bang but with a whimper,) now that fact could be true” left to the present world leaders. In the meantime I’m just hoping for the best possible outcome since I’m quite happy to stick around thank you very much Mat Hancock; or is it Mat Hand Gel, which seems quite appropriate since he’s turning out to be as slippery as a box of frogs on a wet afternoon.
