Thanks Aeshna5 - although there are lots of slightly out of focus photos for every good one, of course!

Pleased to see quite a few good insects today on my walk despite cool, overcast + breezy conditions.
Started off with my first Scorpion Flies, Panorpa sp, in vegetation + several of the distinctive Red+ Black Froghopper, Cercopis vulnerata. Beetles included a few of the green chrysomelid Cryptocephalus aureolus, a few Lesser Bloody-nosed Beetle, Timarcha goettingensis, a Cardinal Beetle, Pyrochroa serraticornis + a great find of a Glow Worm larva feeding on a Girdled Snail.
Also a few Dark Bush-cricket nymphs + by the pond a few Azure + Blue-tailed Damselflies.

Saw my first Oedemera nobilis- a very distinctive beetle with its lurid green colour + the male's swollen rear femurs.
A few damselflies with a pair of Red-eyed in cop by the canal + several Azure + Blue-tailed amongst some reeds.
Also a Hairy Shieldbug sitting on a leaf.

My first Broad-bodied Chaser of the year well away from water.
Also Bloody-nosed Beetle + a larva of it + the solitary bee, Osmia bicolor that nests in old snail shells.

My first Broad-bodied Chaser of the year well away from water. Me too, two, (close to water), and one Emperor, but still nothing like the numbers that there should have been on a day like today.

First Golden-ringed Dragonfly of the year today. I don't want to tempt fate as the weather is still very poor for both Lepidoptera and Odonata, but it could be that summer is nearly here.

Lovely photo- not a species we get in London, but have seen it in Surrey at Thursley not so far away.
