Here's your chance to pass me as from Friday I will be driving my small motorhome birdwatching around France and Spain for the next seven weeks. It will be just me and my dog. A birdwatching adventure. lol

Well it didn't happen because of an idiot driver on the M25 near jnct 24. He fell asleep at the wheel and smashed into the back of me. I was doing about 65mph at the time so goodness knows what he was doing.
He slammed me straight into the centre lane but thankfully no one was overtaking otherwise I dread to think what would have happened to me and my dog.
It is almost certain that my van will be written off as the damage is quite extensive both bodywise and the internal cabinets in my motorhome plus I have a mechanical problem that still has to be analyzed.
I had been planning this 45 day birdwatching itinerary for ages. Now it is doubtful it will ever happen. All because of someone that drives like a mad man whilst tired.

Sorry to hear that John- feel your frustration. The only positive is that you + your dog were unharmed.

Really sorry to hear that John. People on the roads these days are terrible, I'm surprised there's not more accidents given the way some people drive. Every day I see at least one dangerous manoeuvre of some sort. Will be getting my dash cam soon that's for sure! As aeshna says though glad you were ok!
Two more to add for me today from a lunchtime visit to the River Severn:
174) Glossy Ibis (lifer) 175) Water pipit

I am thankful that we are still alive. The outcome could have been fatal if anything had been overtaking me when it happened.
The other frightening aspect of this accident was that we come to rest on a part of the motorway that had no hard shoulder and the barrier was only about two feet from the inside lane meaning we had both stopped on the inside lane. That was even more frightening as we had to exchange details extremely quickly whilst lorries and Arctics went flashing by extremely close to us.
Thankfully my van was still drivable and I managed to drive it the few hundred yards to junction 24 and come off the motorway.

I had been straining at the bit for a few days hoping that a certain bird would hang around long enough for me to go for it. Thankfully it did so off I set for Chesterfield and as soon as I arrived I could see it. After parking up I managed one blurry photo of it in lousy dark conditions. At least you can see what it is from the photo but it was flying like a bird on steroids as it darted here and there at double quick speed around the Chesterfield church with the crooked spire so I was lucky to even get that. I also saw it at the Chesterfield football club where it looks like it goes to roost. Whilst I have seen possibly thousands of these birds abroad this one was actually a British 1st for me. 239.
