Lovely views of one of my regular Foxes by my pond just a minute after I'd topped up the feeders.

Out on my dog walk this morning just after dawn. lovely crisp frosty morning and a fox was racing through a field opposite the wood we were in - until it saw us then it froze for a minute and then laid flat on the ground hoping we couldn't see it I suppose.

Yep that is all I got also - tracks. Badger, pine marten, mouse and lots of bird tracks, and, bit of a worry, human.

Lovely clip, Hank! That squirrel had the longest ear tufts- made him look like a rabbit.

2 lovely looking Red Fox whilst I was sitting in traffic coming out of Swindon. No fear, this was 08:20 this morning so broad daylight.

My mammal of the day is this New Forest pony. Rowanberry and myself were returning from a weekend in Bournemouth and saw him looking wet and cold by the roadside. He was somewhat nervous of me and at one point, ears folded flat, looked about to kick! Luckily we had come prepared with carrots :-) new forest pony DSCF6192 by Wabi Gallery, on Flickr new forest pony DSCF6194 by Wabi Gallery, on Flickr

My mammal of the day is a fox from yesterday. It was very frosty yesterday, temperature -5c. The fox came in to eat some of the bird food from the ground feeder. It was a nice looking, fit male. Suddenly it shot off down the garden at top speed, lips pulled back in a snarl. Much to my delight it was chasing a large ginger cat which is always trying to get the birds. The fox didn't get it but I'm sure it gave the cat a severe fright. Hopefully it will not be back for awhile as the fox went around the garden leaving several scent marks before disappearing into my neighbour's garden.
Harold.

I could not have been more surprised when looking at night time cam. the large very nervous fox that has been appearing occasionally, got into real panic and ran at speed away from the feral cat. Maybe it could not see the cat just heard it moving.

As I was driving home tonight, I saw an animal in my headlights as it crossed the road ahead of me. I immediately thought that it was something that I'd not seen before - it was similar to a stoat but much bigger. I'm pretty sure that it was a polecat, feral ferret or a hybrid of the two. It was near the village of Husborne Crawley, and looking on the internet it appears that polecats have been seen there before. I can't say this was a polecat, but whichever of the three possibilities, it's a new one for me.
