After a lot of rain during most of yesterday there was a brief spell of better weather and I managed to get out for a very short walk close to here. I did not see much wildlife other than a couple of buzzard and a raven. Dave Am Feur Loch by Dave Marley, on Flickr

Rarely look in this section but that is a stunning view, Dave.

Thanks, Aeshna. It was one of those occasions which illustrate every opportunity of decent weather should be grabbed.

Took the dog for a walk along the catchwater drain just a mile or so down the road from home the first part of the path is narrow with tall ferns either side 'up to 6ft' walking into the rising sun it was warm and humid. I was just beginning to think if all the midges were worth it when across the drain in the middle of the field a fox strolled along as care free as you like not a bunny in sight unlike all the other fields were there were plenty Bird song accompanied us all the way skylark song thrush blackcap wren robin dunnock chiffchaff chaffinch goldfinch greenfinch and array of tits goldcrest up in the tree tops swallows over the fields and drain a pair of mallard with 3 young. Under some trees a good number of blusher mushrooms A nice hour or so walk apart from the midges ian

Yesterday we did this short walk - www.walkhighlands.co.uk/ullapool/ardessie.shtmlThe boulder is a good indication of the power of water; I think it is about between 1.5 and 2 metres in diameter. wf1 by Dave Marley, on Flickr rocka by Dave Marley, on Flickr Dave BTW.If anyone is ever in Scotland and would like a walk(anything from a very gentle stroll to a full day in the hills), have a look at the excellent WalkHighlands site(https://www.walkhighlands.co.uk/). Even if you don't want to walk anywhere the descriptions of the walks on the site are worth looking at. All are illustrated so you can get idea of what is in any region.

An Easter Sunday walk. This is only two miles from a main road but is, I think, rarely visited and doesn't even have a name. On the maps it is just shown as 'waterfall'. Fall2 by Dave Marley, on Flickr Dave

On the maps it is just shown as 'waterfall'. ...... on Flickr Dave Couple of years ago I hiked to Laguna 69 (Lake 69 in Peru) - Unusual name reason being that when the area became a National Park they needed to name all the lakes and, as it's an active glacial area it has a lot of lakes and they ran out of names so started numbering the lakes.
