Thought I'd start the ball rolling and ask of anyone enjoyed a nice stroll today?

I've only just seen this thread Deb, I'd been thinking of starting it myself! I walked along that stretch of the Ver in 2009 when I followed the course of the whole river from its source here in my home village of Kensworth to where it joins the Colne (to be precise, it only starts in Kensworth in the winter, the first section dries up in the summer months). On Saturday I did an 8.5 circular walk from Maidensgrove Common in the Oxfordshire section of the Chilterns. I passed through Stonor, College Wood, Pishill and Russell's Water before calling in at the Warburg nature reserve to look at the orchids there. Took my second trip to Cotley Hill this lunchtime. An awesome place for butterflies. Several species and probably near to 200 Marsh Fritillarys today Nige

Yesterday I visited Morgan's Hill in Wiltshire for the first time. Definitely a place I'll be popping back to again if I'm out that way. So much wildlife to see there.

This morning's dog walk was round Carsington Water, cold but dry and very quiet at 6am. Watched swifts zooming around right above the path which was great

Today I made my first visit to the National Trust's site at Denbies Hillside, near Dorking in Surrey. It's a lovely piece of Chalk Downland with wonderful views and some excellent wildlife, including numerous species of butterflies. By sheer good fortune I happened to go on a day when aeshan5 was leading a group round the site, so I had the great benefit of his expertise - I wouldn't have seen half so much if he hadn't ponted it out! New Forest - Black Gutter to Leaden Hall in search of Ring Ouzel - they stop off here every autumn on migration. The view out, destination is the group of trees on the skyline. One stream to cross, it's usually shallow enough, just never quite sure where from one year to the next. IMG_8768 by Wabi Gallery, on Flickr IMG_8783 by Wabi Gallery, on Flickr

Only two attachments allowed per post so I'll continue here:- Nearly there. .......and the return view, there's a Stonechat on that gorse at the centre but a wideangle lens is not the best tool to pick it up. Just one Ring Ouzel seen, mission accomplished. IMG_8774 by Wabi Gallery, on Flickr IMG_8781 by Wabi Gallery, on Flickr

Walked from the Beinn Eighe Visitor Centre to Meall a'Ghiubhais. Saw a few plants I could identify - bilberry, juniper, a heather, a clubmoss, and others I could not. Unfortunately the animal life was lacking. There were signs of deer and grouse (or some other bird that does a poo like grouse) but other than a couple of ravens I did not see anything else. However, the views were not too bad. Dave rsb by Wabi Gallery, on Flickr vn by Wabi Gallery, on Flickr
