Been doing the accounts most of the day (boring) so a bit of Handel (Messiah) was required, feeling better already

The Messiah! Can't help smiling. I was in the school choir and one of only 3 girls that sang alto - we did also have loud voices. Got into awful trouble by changing words to "Tea and Toast, Toast and Tea" at a very important concert. The audience did not pick it up but the choir mistress when red with rage. Long long time ago, but memory always returns.

Long long time ago, but memory always returns. Ah school days I hated them! Apart from woodwork, metal work, and sports mainly rugby simply because I could run faster than the rest of the boys, oh yes and assembly where Alan enjoyed a good old sing song Jerusalem being my favorite especially the second verse. Bring me my bow of burning gold etc. etc. wonderful! But it had nothing to do with religion or patriotism you understand but more about building camps and swinging through the trees thinking I was some sort of super hero whist playing truant waving a great big sword (piece of wood. Jerusalem

For some reason, not been listening to much music lately but between insomnia and tinnitus it seemed a good time to put on the headphones (so as not to disturb Mrs A 's sleep) and take a trip down a very long memory lane. Not quite The Messiah or Jerusalem - it's The Edgar Broughton Band - Dropout Boogie - takes me back to my brief time at Manchester Uni 1969 - 70, too much alcohol, too few lectures attended, Anti-Apartheid demos at the Springbok tour and a student occupation of the Uni's admin building - happy days! The band, having played for a fee at the students union, came over to the sit-in and played again for those of us who imagined ourselves at the Sorbonne back in May '68!

Bit of a wild one then Alf! Dropout boogie sounds interesting, puts me in mind of (you really got me by the Kinks) which the wife finds moving for some reason! But Alan is in a romantic mood once again today hence --- Vic Damone
All the things you are
My mother would often sing this song whist baking, ah some memories never end. Is that a Don Williams song I believe it is! All the things you are www.youtube.com/watch?v=R6K58m2ZlS4Ps Off to Tesco now for a SD camera card for the new camera. Alan, still reviewing the situation

oh boy - love it. Got a sudden rush of 'work to be done', so it is head down and listening to the wind howling and the rain against the window. Just giving myself morning and evening to web browse.

Just got back from being entertained by the kiddies at the local primary school in the village hall. (locals invited along with parents etc) Just delightful all Burn's based (they had put on a Burn's Night Supper - for lunch) even had haggis neeps and tatties. But they bought tears to my eyes when they sang The Dark Islands, and Red Red Rose and did a very funny rendition of Donald where's Your Troosers. Ended up with Canadian Barn Dance, St Bernard's Waltz and the Gay Gordons and of course Auld Lang Syne.

Sounds like you had a great time Nelly, going back to the borders soon depending on the weather of course to see my new scottish friends and study the behaviour of little owls in the field. Nina Simone I always find this film clip highly amusing not to mention being a huge fan of Nina Simone My baby just cares for me www.youtube.com/watch?v=eYSbUOoq4VgAlan
