We saw these two in the woods near us this morning... I've never seen either of these before, but both were some sort of fungi. This first one I thought was a leaf until I got closer to it; the photos show it from both sides.

The second one was quite large, and looked like a large (about 30cm across) frilly head of lettuce - very well camouflaged, and I nearly trod on it! There were three of these, grouped quite near to one another.

I'm kinda guessing here but the first looks like an old birch polypore and the second some sort of wood cauliflower. Nice find rowenberry ian
