I finally got around to editing the rest of the photos from the London Wetlands, and here are the foreign birds... I believe these are whistling ducks, but I've no idea what sort of social ritual they were doing here... they stood in this little huddle clacking their bills together for ages. I took quite a few photos, and this was the best one. 10 London Wetlands Jul22 Whistling Ducks by Wabi Gallery, on Flickr This was an odd pair- they moved verrrrry slowly, as though sleep-walking. Quite fearsome looking, but were actually placid birds and spent more time preening than doing anything. 08 London Wetlands Jul22 Unknown by Wabi Gallery, on Flickr This little russet duck was the only one I saw of this type- it was very concerned with the previous birds and stood upright like this watching them from a distance. It's feet looked far too big for its body, like it was wearing wellies. 09 London Wetlands Jul22 Russet Duck by Wabi Gallery, on Flickr This one was my favourite... it stood waiting on the path in front of a gate, (one of the staff said it was feeding time, and I think it believed we had food) and when I knelt down to take its photo it stuck one leg out as though posing. It stayed like this without moving long enough for me to snap it several times. 13 London Wetlands Jul22 RBGoose by Wabi Gallery, on Flickr
