I feel a bit stupid asking this question because I am fairly sure I put this plant in the pond and now I can't remember what it is.
It is not rooted in the sediment though some of the roots might get down that far.
The stems are up to about 30/40cm tall.
Thanks
Dave

You'll probably feel silly when I say Watercress!

Thanks Aeshna, and yes I do feel silly. Not only for not recognising it but also because Mrs Tringa said, "That looks like watercress" and I argued saying,"We haven't had watercress in the pond for years"

Once it gets going there's no stopping it. I tossed in a handful from a bag bought at Sainsbury's back around March, and I had to weed a bunch of it out of the pond today.

I'm a tad disappointed that half of the pond plants I put in last summer haven't made an appearance this spring even the mare's tails failed to show. I had the baskets out the other day and no sign of life at all in 3. 2 more I may have saved but were covered in blanket weed, time will tell As for the water cress I buy a bag throw some in, harvest it wash it and chuck it on my salad yeah ian
