Sat in the garden last night waiting for the wife to come home from the theatre a clear night sky mainly the usual amount of satellites and aircraft going over, with the odd faint and fast streaks a few flashes. Thought my eyes were playing tricks. Then a neck stretching what I can only describe as a fireball I was sat back to the house looking to the east head slightly looking up when it appeared mid sky in front of me super bright and a long long trail, went right over me and out of sight over the house by this time my neck is as far back as it goes It almost looked slow and low by far the brightest and longest view of one I've had for decades. Awesome ian between 11pm and 10past-ish

Last night was the peak of the η-Lyrid meteor shower (different from the earlier "Lyrids"). η-Lyrid meteor shower origin is comet C/1983 H1 (IRAS-Araki-Alcock) whereas the Lyrids are Comet Thatcher. η-Lyrid meteor shower is not a major shower with ZHR peak of 3/hr.
