That's a Garden Spider- I do occasionally find the odd one indoors, but get the feeling they come in by accident. Given how many there are often showing in the garden, not many are found inside.
I always have plenty of spiders living in the house, particularly Missing Segment Orb-web Spiders, Zygiella, on windows & Daddy Long Legs Spiders, Pholcus, all over the place. On Sunday there was a small wasp against the bathroom window, but not getting up to the open fanlight to escape, so I went to get a receptacle to catch it & put it out the fanlight. By the time I got back a Pholcus had captured it & spent some time sedating & wrapping it up before sucking it dry. Despite their flimsy appearance they are voracious spiders, taking spiders much larger than themselves.
