Tomorrow is the peak of the Perseid meteor shower which is, I read, it one of the more reliable showers.
At present the weather forecast is good so for once I might get a view.

Looked out of the bedroom window last night 10-30 ish the sky was clear so thought I'd go sit outside for a while. Cup of hot chocolate in hand 'honest ' I'd just sat down and a bright flash straight overhead, good start so I pulled out the recliner settled in that's when the first bank of cloud rolled in In total I counted 11 bright meteors most with long trails one so bright it could be seen through the clouds, I'll settle for that in a little over hour and a half ian

This years attempt at the Perseids, around 11pm went to sit outside a lot of cloud rolling through but in the clear spells I saw 2 and if you could only see 2 these would be the ones. Bright with long tails and a flash to finish Possibly a glimpse of the milky way, probably just some high cloud reflecting the light I've only once clocked it for definite from the back garden. Usual satellites over in all directions ian

I too had a look out last night but no joy at all. I think I am destined never to see a meteor shower.

Back outside last night a tad earlier just after 9pm. Lots of large moths flying about and a few bats Only 2 meteors not as bright as the other night. The usual satellites and what at first I thought were 2 meteors side by side but no trails these things were traveling way faster than the usual satellites. If you put your arm out held 4 fingers up they'd look to be just either side of your hand not seen anything moving that fast across the sky and not on the normal flight paths. No blinking lights not planes anyway. Also just before I went in, over the house tops a little way off in the distance a grey shadow moved from right to left quite large quite fast, a flock of birds just catching the light? So fast moving objects shadowy objects in the sky, the truth is out there Oh yeah the frog was singing in the pond too ian
