Out for a walk today and at two separate places (more than a mile apart) ... why do people do this? I love dogs. Best, pick it up and bin it. Not so good but if off the path it will break down in the countryside pretty quickly. But seal it in a plastic bag on the path, high contrast and ensure it will stay around with pollution for ages. Why? Ian

It is beyond me too, Ian.
I might have said this before on here but the whole thing baffles me.
The perpetrator has bought the poo bags(and possibly a dispenser thingy), remembered to take a bag with them, had to be close to their dog during the act, had to pick up the deposit which is potentially the messy part, tie the bag, but then just drop it(or hang it on a bush)!
I have heard the suggestion they leave the bag because they intend to collect it when they are on their way back - I just don't buy that at all.
Just don't understand it.
