These two shots were taken in NW Scotland. The lochan is less than 100m long and is well away from habitation so I don't think this plant is a garden escapee, and garden ponds are not very common here. The plant covered about 3/4 of the water surface and as far as I could see no other water plant was present.
I looked online and thought the nearest I could find was a spearwort, but it did not look completely right.
