Hi everyone, These lovely little flowers have taken over my lawn this year, not seen them before so quite odd. I haven't had the heart to mow over them. Anyone know what they are? flic.kr/ps/3UTkMC Hope the link works. Thanks Gav

They remind me a bit of Speedwell, but I don't even qualify as a beginner when it comes to flower identification, so I could easily be wrong.
I'm sure others with more knowledge than me will be to give the correct ID.

They are what we used to call "Bird's eyes". In our youth!
Cheers, Tony.

Thank you! I've lived in a rural area all my life but know so little! Never too late to learn. Thanks again.

Gav- if you click on one of your images, an upwards 'swoosh' arrow appears in the bottom right corner... clicking on that brings up a box which says 'share one photo'. There are four options- the one on the top right says 'BBCode' if you choose that, then click within the code itself it will select all of it. Copy and paste that into your post here... then once you 'create post' the image will appear. 20210509_142805 by Gav Howard, on Flickr

Hi Faith, thank you, I order the guide last night - I have to ask, are you the author? Fraid so – not sure if advertising is really allowed here! I couldn't connect the name 'Gav' with any orders I got, but you should have received it by now. Hope it helps.

Hi Faith, (Gavin Howard, The Herons), yes the guide is great so thanks for recommending it, and of course for writing it - I am gradually learning the different terms at the moment - and I am looking to also invest in the Collins Flower Guide in due course.
