Going through yesterday/last night's footage I caught a red kite trying to grab the trailcam - I'm assuming it thought it was a squirrel. Unfortunately the footage is only of after the event but I've posted it on Youtube. Footage is here www.youtube.com/watch?v=ynESHP035dc&feature=youtu.be&ab_channel=JustVin if you use freeze it at 0:36 and use the comma and full-stop on a laptop or pc there are some interesting stills of it.

A fortuitous but, nonetheless, excellent record, Justvin.
A good illustration of how useful trail cameras can be.

A fortuitous but, nonetheless, excellent record, Justvin. A good illustration of how useful trail cameras can be. Dave I was very lucky with this capture but it missed the follow up - this morning I found the camera facing 90° to the left which also triggered the camera again less than a minute after this footage ended. Unfortunately it didn't trigger in time to catch the kite and this also pointed the camera at a frozen pond so it was the only thing I got. Saying that, I'm so pleased to get the footage I did. The red kite is especially well thought of here as nearby is Gwenffrod Dinas which was the home to the country's last native nesting pairs before the Scandinavian ones were introduced.
