Stepped out side last night around 1-ish thought I'd walk to the end of our little street and around the corner 100m all told, looking up the road gives a view of the cathedral it's about 4 miles away you can see the floodlit towers on top of the hill and there's been a few pictures of the comet just to the west of the cathedral in the local paper lately. I did see hale bop in the 90's but no luck last night with neowise, I'll try again another night Anyway walking back Mars was showing wonderfully. Low in the east and I have to say it was the reddest I'd ever seen it, quite stunning. think it was mars ian

I'm hoping the forecast for tonight is correct here, as it will be the first night for a while that has been clear, so fingers crossed I'll get a chance to view it.
I too recall Hale-Bopp which was great. This one isn't as bright but still worth having a look at, IMO.

I have just come back in from having a reasonably good view of NEOWISE. Being less than ten miles as the crow flies from Trafalgar Square the sky, at this time of night, is not that dark. The comet was just visible with the naked eye by looking to one side, but easily seen in binoculars.
