You may well have noticed that a lot of my posts are from Besthorpe I really like the place it's generally quite people wise the odd walker and even a bird watcher now and then it's around 12 miles from home and once your past the killer roundabout on the bypass it's an easy drive It sees little interest from many bird watchers there's a bigger reserve a few miles away so I mostly get this place all to myself this year I intend to spend more time there and perhaps keep a record of my sightings, other than in my head So it seems I'm becoming a bird watcher I've always carried my bins or camera but now I'm a fully blown sit down break out the flask and see what turns up kind of guy Last year I bought a new scope Hawke 16-48x68 Endurance ED it's very good and last week I bought the matching bins Hawke Frontier 8x42 ED X there so bright and sharp quite amazing Only had them out in the wild once so far and looking forward to getting out more if the weather ever lets up ian

Ian, I have a pair of Hawke Frontier 8x43 but have now gone back to my Bushnell 8x 42 since they suit me much better in most circumstances, likewise I’ve also got three sizes of scopes Opticron mighty midget 13x – 33x, plus a 60mm 16x – 48 x scope and a 80mm 20x – 60x scope but still prefer my Bushnell so I guess it’s true what they say, I’m just an old fashion guy. In any case binoculars don’t carry the weight of scopes and tripods’ that being crucial in my case, plus the fact I would hate to be seen as just another Brutus Tiberius Maximus carrying monster, even though my physique is really quite stealth, six feet at twelve stone, yes well I’m sure you get the picture since it’s just another of those age things where the weight of equipment really does matter since I have an old back injury that does play up from time to time.
