Is this a taboo subject since it certainly looks that way since nothing is being carried out to stop the possible apocalyptic scenario. Nevertheless, I’ve been reading about the fires contributing to climate change not to mention pollution, also read about the Thames barrier being not fit for purpose should a great flood happen, although the barrier is supposed to last until 2030 according to the EXPERTS! Still if the future workmanship is anything like the recent work / accidents we should be ok; carried out in order to save money I presume. Anyhow I’m thinking of dismantling the old barn and building an ark just in case the British Isle disappears under twenty feet of water or indeed the whole world given time. Of course we could also collide with Apophis or even a stuffed shirt since the fallout would be of the same magnitude.
Still, no one in the in the seats of power seem to be taking climate change all that seriously although the likes of Sir David Attenborough and studies carried out by the world’s top scientists certainly are. Nonetheless, it certainly places everything else in perspective doesn’t it.

Ah! the Amazon who are we to tell them what to do with their natural resources yes of course we should encourage them to preserve it 'and stop buying their exports' but take a look closer to home maybe we and others this side of the world need to plant more forests if we can't control whats happening else where control whats happening here. Also remember el presidente needs to boost his offshore accounts ready for when he's go to flee As for sir DA don't preach to me he's got to have the carbon footprint of a small country. ian

This being something we should all be “very concerned about” since whatever is done elsewhere will make very little difference together with the rate of knots the glacier in Southern Greenland is melting, (see link) unless the whole world stops / cuts carbon admissions now. Unfortunately the worst polluting counties are in denial and placing their own greed first. As for Sir David and preaching, I don’t think I was preaching Ian far from it, just the fact he knows the facts and has said so on more than one occasion. www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-49483580Alan

I don't disagree with you Alan I'm just saying who are we to dictate how a country uses it's natural resources, personally I like to see all deforestation limited or stopped. Wealthier countries should provide incentives to limit deforestation and trade limits to cut exports of goods from such resources. From across the world. Carbon emissions there's another thing. I think the average jack or gill tries their best, but it's industry and as you say certain countries that need to get with the program, don't point the finger at households all the time were trying!! I didn't think you were preaching Alan but DA does saying people should think twice before flying and should look at changing their lifestyles. pot-black-kettle something like that ian

I cannot really comment any further on Sir David Ian since I don’t personally know the man or his actual’ motivation for long distance flights, or indeed when he first became aware of climate change since “most people” never knew things were so serious until thirty years ago (see link.) Neither have I seen any of his programs although I would assume the later ones carried a conservation message. Speaking on the question of flying at all I suppose the decision would depend on one’s own conscience, conscience being the very reason I decided not to go to New Zealand for my little owl studies. I also gave up driving even though one car less makes very little difference in the grand scheme of things. www.nationalgeographic.com/magazine/2018/07/embark-essay-climate-change-pollution-revkin/Alan
