The RSPB and several other environmental groups have resigned from the government's pesticides forum. They say that the use of dangerous pesticides has become worse rather than improving, and they feel they can no longer be associated with the 'Pesticides Forum and Voluntary Initiative' set up in the 1990s.
"...figures show that since their founding the area of British land treated by pesticides has risen from 45 million hectares to more than 70 million hectares today."
