Hows anybody doing for hedgehogs? Used to see at least some splattered on the roads here n once a blue moon a live one, but have stopped seeing even dead ones. Our overgrown back garden should be good habitat. Do they still exist?

In January we had a hedgehog visiting the back garden almost every night but I haven't seen it for over a week now. Perhaps the cold weather has encouraged it to have a sleep. However, prior to early January I hadn't seen one for ages.

Although this link will go some way in to answering your question (farm land management.) The increasing sale of agricultural land for housing is also lending a hand along with the increase in fast traffic flow and number of vehicles. Note Hedgehogs normally hibernate in November but I had one in the garden into early January this year so the present climate can play a part too. besjournals.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.1046/j.1365-2664.2002.00695.xAlan
