I am an assistant leader of a WEX group (RSPB Wildlife Explorers) based at Sandwich Bay Bird Observatory and once a year we take the kids through the golf course to the beach and do a beach clean up then gather shells for identification and do some beach art, all wear protective gloves and have pickers, a young girl came up with this Sea Mouse in a dish, we could not get over the iridescent hairs along the side of the animal, there were hundreds of dead Spider crabs along the high tide line, a lot of them still whole but most were battered to bits. Washed up on the beach at the tide line, there must have been a big storm out in the channel to create all that havoc and destruction Duncan

That's a weird and wonderful creature... I've never seen one, either. How big is it?
It's great that you do things like that with the kids!

Sorry Rowanberry, I should have gave a measurement, it was 12 cm long, had lots of legs, the underside looked like a woodlouse, it was quite meaty too, Duncan

How amazing! Great that you are involving kids, so need to get the young to get involved and appreciate our marine life and wildlife in general.
