Hi Folks, I thought I'd give you a few tips on how to ID spiders, first a photo of the dorsal side (back) then a sternum shot, which has a definite pattern in Tegeneria species and the epigine is unique to each species, which is why I chose T. atrica, a ventral shot (underside) showing the spinners or a close up of the spinners would be good, and the eyes, there is a site, Spinnen van Belgie - Araignees - de Belgie - spiders of Belgium, this site will show you loads of pencil type drawings of spiders eye sets, I downloaded the page and printed it off to make a booklet 12cm X 20cm, giving me 9 pages in all. With this information on eye sets, you can ID a spider to the species, if you can't ID it then you have three or four good photos which will help someone on WABI to give a good idea of the species and so help you out. Hope this is of help Duncan Tenegaria atrica 2 Ventral view by Duncan Mclean, on Flickr Tenegaria atrica 1 Ventral view by Duncan Mclean, on Flickr Tegenaria atrica 4 showing eye set by Duncan Mclean, on Flickr Tegenaria atrica 1 Dorsal view by Duncan Mclean, on Flickr
