Only showing this as I like the way the open wings show. I had a senior moment and set my trail cam on photo not video by mistake, so was surprised at the photos I got and how reasonable they were. Coal Tit by Helen Skelton, on Flickr

We've only had ours set up for nighttime, so I haven't experimented with it during the day. It might be interesting to try.
That's a good photo for a trail cam, since it's not possible to have much control over what they do!

I set up one of my trail cameras up a couple of years ago on the veranda where I had placed a bowl of nuts for Nutty (our original red squirrel) I got some delightful videos of the red squirrel one of the young pine martens and of course the jays. The problem now with setting them up during the day is I get a huge amount of videos with all the birds flying around and it is too much of a hassle going through them all. With this new cam I was testing it out and of course set it wrong (photos not videos) most of the many photos were either very close up bits of birds or tails or heads though there were a few nice photos among the 70 it took. You might be better off setting it up during the day for say your frogs or mice - that is not near too many birds. or if you have a bird nesting or making it's nest.

That's a good idea to set it up to catch birds nesting- although I've not seen the female robin going in and out of the box recently.
Snowlynx set up our trail cam to take a photo first, then a fifteen-second video. Then it waits five seconds and if there is still movement it does the same again. He did have it doing longer videos, but I got fed up with endless 30-second videos of the neighbour's cat mooching about!
The busiest night there ended up being over seventy videos and photos of (I think) five different foxes... but that was during mating season when our vixen had lots of admirers. It's quietened down now, but last year she brought the cubs when they were several months old. I would love to capture that on the trail cam, if she does it again.
