Does anyone know that there is a website that is very similar to WAB. It seems to be very popular with many different posts. There also seems to be a gallery hosted, do the owners of WABI know their existence and is there a cooperation?

WATW is Wild about the World... it's a very large international forum, and quite a few of the members from Wild about Britain went there after it shut down.

When I was looking for a forum to replace WAB, I used WATW, but it has its own set of bugs and problems, and many spammers "watching". The last post was on Friday I believe. I wanted somewhere a bit livelier, but still belong to many forums. I will advertise all suitable forums on our Facebook group for ex-WABbers, but ultimately hope for WAB to be rebuilt.

I'm on WATW but never really liked the format, and always seemed rather quiet.

I too joined watw, but did not get answers, then kept getting the odd error page not found, then when my virus scanner came up with a warning re the site I stopped using it (Think the site has been scammed - just like WAB was. Now I use wabi - it will grow and every time I ask a question I get a reply, some real experts here. So I have the best of both worlds this site and the FB WAB castaways. Ace keep up the good work.

IIRC WATW was another Stu inspired site that spun off out of WAB - with Stu disapearing and WAB dead on its arse as a result , its not surprising that WATW is going the same route.
To be fair to Stuart i'm sure he has a life outside of WAB and I know he had some serious changes in personal circumstances , including possibly moving to living on a narrow boat where he didnt have reliable internet access (although I haven't seen him since my wedding in '09)
Unfortunately this happens with Forums from time to time - I'm also big into woodturnning and I recall the woodhaven being set up by half the mod team from uk workshop because they were unhappy with the lack of responsiveness from the site owner there - fast forward a few years and woodhaven has imploded as the site owner lost interest/had other things take over his time , and theres now a 'woodhaven2' set up by some of the members.
Wildlife britain - which was originally set up by a splinter group from WAB who were unhappy with some admin decisions - seems to also be dead on its arse with no new content since 2013 and virtually none since 2011 , while wildlifeuk (also a wab splinter originally) is still going but hardly anyone is posting anything
In that context WAB had a good run and its left a fair legacy in both WABI and Castaways, and hopefully when in X years time rowanberry and snowlynx find they have other priorities we'll be able to do what other sides have done and just give the 'keys' to another member to carry on the good work

Last time I visited WATW Goosey mentioned the site would go the same way as WAB. Nothing was done on the upkeep of the site. Shame to lost all the information WAB had on its site. So many people now on different sites. Now find more interest in photography. like Talk Photography and some sites on Facebook. Even joined local photography group.

Well I am happy to be here! The member numbers are increasing steadily and it's great to see some of the old wabbers here, hopefully more will find the site soon.

Can we assume that WAB has gone forever? I keep clicking on the bookmark just in case! I hope this site keeps going, it's doing a superb job. Glad it's got the support from so many WAB members.
Just noticed that Eeyore's back ! Now we really are rocking and rolling again !!

Yeah i've noticed you over there (I'm big soft moose on TP and most places on the net - I stuck with eeyore here for consistency with my old wab monicker. )
