Got of few photos of a newt enjoying the sunshine today... this is the first time I've seen one of them doing this, usually they just surface for a quick breath of air and then dive down out of sight. I hope there's more than one in the pond- especially since I'm having a complete lack of tads this year. To add to my newt photos, I took this yesterday morning of two newts swimming about just beneath the surface of the water. The larger of the two, (which I'm presuming is a female, since it looks pregnant) was intent on hunting tadpoles, (of which there are hardly any this year) while ignoring the smaller, darker one following her about.
