We've covered our picnic table with a rubber tarp, and these tracks were left in the dew on it yesterday morning. I'm thinking they're cat, just because I can't make out any claw marks but that might be just because they've smudged. Around here it could go either way, (the young foxes like to get on top of everything!) It is possible to know for sure? I would also opt for cat. Not Fox.

I didn't think to put anything in the photo in order to compare the size...by the time I remembered to do that, they had dried! I thought they were probably cat, but decided it was best to get more knowledgeable second opinions!

Just found WABI, so hope this comment is not too late.
I have to identfy mammal prints for my work, so I can be very confident about this one. Definitely cat, from the shape, the symmetry, and the gaps between the toes.
Incidentally foxes don't always leave claw marks if the surface, like this, is hard.

Thanks, Paulthevole... and welcome to Wabi! Always good to have more members with knowledge of mammal tracks.
