Was able to find a couple of these Barrel Jellyfish that have been invading the south-west coastline. Big beasts they were, lifeguards at the beach had to use two big shovels to clear some of them! Nige

Nice one. I read that they are harmless though, is this true? Were the lifeguards clearing them to stop people being scared?

Probably, I think they sting but it's too weak to cause any harm! Probably moved them to stop kids jumping on them as trampolines too Nige

Those are amazing- I googled them, and it seems the whole of the south-west coast has got hundreds of them floating about. Some incredible underwater images taken by by diver Steve Trewhella in the Daily Mail.

51 have been washed up at Ferrybridge (near Portland) this morning, I'd imagine they'll be a lot more with these winds today.
