I was trying to weed the pond today with a sieve, (the duck weed is getting a little out of control) and this turned up. Not seen one of these in our pond before... any ideas? It was about 1 1/4 inches long (a tiny bit over 3cm) and I put it back after photographing it.

Yes a dragonfly nymph- more specifically a Southern Hawker, a splendid species to have breeding in your pond.

That's excellent news- I've only seen a dragonfly around the pond once, so I'm surprised there are nymphs in it... I'll have to be careful when removing duckweed to make sure I don't accidentally take them out.
Thanks for the id!
