I've gone through so many resources on both Armadillidium depressum and vulgare, and I just can't find any differences. They all talk about pleon curving inwards, but I'm looking at photos of both and there is nothing different. Anyone good with them?

Silversea- I had a look at both of them and I have to admit I'm confused, too. Wikipedia says that " Armadillidium vulgare...can be distinguished from Armadillidium nasatum and Armadillidium depressum, the only other British species in the genus, by the gap that A. nasatum and A. depressum leave when rolling into a ball; A. vulgare does not leave such a gap.[4]" These photos show Armadillidium depressum curled up, so I'm guessing this is what they mean? it talks about the "pleon being more curved outwards, giving a 'splayed' appearence". It would be helpful if there were photos of two of them side by side, with an arrow pointing to which bit they are talking about. I thought the A. vulgare looked just as splayed , to be honest.  I think if it can curl up into a tight little ball without a gap showing, then it must be A. vulgare. www.bmig.org.uk/species/armadillidium-depressum |

A. depressum and A. nasutum are unable to roll into a perfect ball and have their antennae and telson remain protruding.
