Now that is a lovely photo, Dave. It looks like a proper crescent, as though that's all there is to it... and the craters are so distinct!
My attempt tonight is much more hazy.

Thanks Rb. There was, as always with my shots. a fair bit of luck involved. The phase of the Moon was good for getting some decent shadows, it was very clear and the Moon was in just the right place for me to use the roof of the shed as a support.

Here are my latest two efforts... one from last night, and one of it coming up early this evening.
They are predicting relatively clear skies tomorrow morning and Saturday... I'd like to get a good photo of a full moon setting over the playing fields nearby. Will have to get up early to see if I can catch it.

I made it to the fields in time to see the moon setting this morning... I took these at around 6:00 am.
Not a soul about- it was lovely, watching the sky gradually brighten with a nearly cloudless start to the day.

Taken two nights ago, this was coming up to the last full moon of 2019.... Dec. Yule Moon.
I wasn't able to get a photo of it actually full, since it was completely clouded over last night.

I took this photo this morning, and am quite pleased with the crater details in it.
I do need to try and get the camera on a tripod when doing moon shots, to see if I can get it a bit sharper. As it is, I usually end up trying to steady it against a tree or side of the doorframe to cut down on camera shake! It was the doorframe acting as a brace for this one.

February Waxing Moon tonight... it will be full on Sunday, but the weather is meant to be pretty wet and windy so might not get to see it this month.

...and here it is full. We've been having such gales and torrential rain I wasn't sure I'd even see the full moon this month, but yesterday morning got to see it setting.
Shame it always looses the crater details around the edges whenever it is full, but I like the challenge of getting it in focus at all... and since it was supposed to be a super moon again I thought I'd give it a go.

I took this around Valentine's Day, but only now getting around to uploading it. I have more success with moon photos when the sky is lighter... the craters show up better.

After all the rain we had today, the air was crystal clear and I managed to get this photograph of the first quarter moon this evening. First Quarter Moon by Wabi Gallery, on Flickr

With a day being very hot and no clouds the moon was visable early, it looked very large appearing up behind Ben More - as they say it took our breath away DSCF6839 by Helen Skelton, on Flickr
