Dear all, I came across this dropping in an area of coniferous woodland and was trying to work out what it was. I wondered if it might be badger? There is a badger sett about 200m or so away that I know of. Any ideas? Many thanks!

Much better with a bigger pic this time, and the moss gives an idea of scale. Badger looks quite likely especially if you know of a sett nearby. Was there a trail from one to the other at all?

Yes clearer picture thank you! I didn't notice a trail. There was a lot of bracken covering this bit of woodland. I guess that isn't much help.

Certainly looks like a Badger dropping to me.
Badgers dig shallow latrines which are generally used as boundary markers. This could be one because to the left of the dropping there is what looks like an old dropping which has weathered a bit. It looks like the Badger has been feeding on berries and the like as you can see seeds in the remains.
Harold.
