Antennae say Curculionidae, but everything else doesn't really fit! Unless we have a weird wide-headed minimal/no snouted one! On heather in the New Forest, Hampshire.

Certainly looks like Curculionidae!
Maybe it's just lost it's 'nose'?
Looks similar to Strophosoma sus...

Looks close doesn't it? These seem to be the known UK species data.nbn.org.uk/Taxa/NHMSYS0020153543The subfamily Entiminae seems to be a definite, not sure how I didn't find that in my subfamily search before. The common name "broad-nosed weevils" kind of gives it away.

You might have had it. I went through the British checklist and it is "Neliocarus" sus, a common heather-associated species. EDIT: Just confirmed it used to be called Strophosoma sus.
