Siskins have been very rare visitors to our garden over the years so I'm no that familiar with them but they have become regular visitors to the feeder in the last few weeks. I say that but I'm not always confident about identifying wildlife - can someone tell me if I have these right? I think the left is male, right female. Thanks Alf

I'd say your shots are of siskins, Alf.
Great birds to see, sometimes the males almost glow.

Don't know what happened to all the siskins that were here, had masses earlier on. feisty little things. Always amuses me how they stand their ground and threaten the larger birds - chaffinch and the like. nice photos Alf.

Probably gone south Nelly. I saw c100 yesterday including a flock of c80 in the Lea Valley on the outskirts of London. As you say the males are stunners when the sun is shining on them.

Yes male and female Saw several down at Blashford Lakes a few weeks back, you get such great views of them from the hide there, only a few feet away! Nige
