I just got 'page not found', even when I then searched for it. Let me guess: 'Spiders are taking over the world', 'Man-eating spiders on the loose in Plymouth', 'Woman dies of fright at seeing 2mm spider', 'Spider venom can kill at a hundred paces' – am I getting close? What is it with spiders, I love them.

Looks like The Herald was having a slack day for news.
Somebody found something in a turnip, doesn't know what it was but assumes it must be a spider with eggs and "is now scared there are venomous spiders in her home."
I'm sure we are all relieved that during this severe trauma and the shock of the son, "going mental", there was time to 'phone the local paper.
I think you could be right about trying for some free stuff, Ash.
Combine the reduction in the number people cooking food from scratch with the ultra-cleaned and packaged veg we see in the shops and I would be not surprised if there are some people who are not too sure where some vegetables come from.
If I'd had a turnip like that I'd have had the bug out and had a good look at it.
We must also remember that today the required reaction to anything slightly unusual is, of course, OVER REACTION.
I wonder waht they would do if something really bad happened.

Dave They'd go straight to the 'Nationals' instead. There could be money in it! (Cynical me!).

thanks for finding the link again Rowanberry not sure what happened to the original link, as it worked fine when i posted it here ? i always think stuff like this is a ploy to get some free cash or goods from the store involved from a "bad publicity" angle. I think the newspaper might have taken the article down, because it was pretty obvious that it was what you said- a ploy to get cash or goods from the store.
