I must be honest though at first I thought the book was not to my taste but it just goes to show how wrong one can be. Many a memory was brought back to life in more ways than one, highly recommended for all lovers of life in the countryside.
The Shepherd's Life: a tale of the Lake District by James Rebanks
Sometimes his broad perspective gives rise to a well-grounded assertion of value, such as when he remarks that his father’s encyclopedic knowledge of landscape” makes nonsense of conventional ideas of intelligence.

I had a look for that- it's got some really good reviews on amazon... Wonder if my local library can be persuaded to order it in?

You can ask your local library to obtain any published book: usually, if it's held within the county it's free, if it has to come from another county there will be a small charge - I think I had to pay about £2.20 for a book which came from Sunderland University Library.
