Really good image sledda. Clear slot here too last night - lasted all of half an hour! but I got an image of the moon with the star Aldebaran shortly before it passed behind the moon. I did cheat - took 2 images, one with moon exposed and one with the star (and consequently an extremely over exposed moon) and merged the two together. There appears to be something in your enlarged image in about the position where the star would have been after their paths crossed? Alf

Thanks Nige and Alf and yes I'm sure it's the same star as in your picture Alf.

Frustrating isn't it - I got the aurorawatch alert but cloudy here all night (or at least during hours I was awake) - I've yet to see the aurora. Did see a lunar halo the other night but by the time I had gone in the house and grabbed camera it too was gone.

Its even more frustrating when you are the cause of it. In Novemeber there was a good display. Unusually I was ahead of the game having heard about the chance earlier in the day. Decided to have a early night and got up about 2am. I did see the lights but from other photos and descriptions I read on line the really bright lights were about 9 or 10pm, when I was in bed! Dave
