Just a wee question. Most of the photos I have seen of foxes posted here seem to be urban foxes and quite small where as the foxes I see (rural) seem much bigger, in fact up in the hills they can be very large almost German Shepherd size. Don't know if anyone else has seen this and is there a reason?

I don't know why this is- could it be because the rural foxes are more prone to scavenging through bins, and so resort to eating any old rubbish? (A diet of kebabs and KFC- not good for them, nor us!) When our local fox first became a regular visitor, I initially thought he was either a vixen or a youngster because he did appear to be quite small.
A fox the size of a German shepherd would be quite an impressive animal.

Years and years ago when I saw my first large fox I mentioned I had seen a dog and did it belong to anyone. Shepherd laughed "No you silly girl that would have been a dog fox - you know a male fox"
