This is my regular badger, Is it just very large, getting fat or pregnant (when do they breed?) Could be just getting it's winter coat. The bowl you can see in the grass lower right in line with head is 6cm across it's top.

I was surprised when badgers first started visiting here just how big they are. I thought I had an idea of their size but certainly one of them was a larger animal than I expected, especially in the width across the body. In addition I think they have grown/are growing a winter coat and for the last six weeks or so they have been packing away food and putting on some extra pounds for the winter.

BTW Have you noticed the winter coats on the pine martens?

don't know what happened as soon as I posted all my reply text vanished. so in cast it does not appear herewith again. Yes Dave they are getting their winter coats fast, big difference from last week. this taken in pouring rain yesterday.
