I thought that trail cameras were triggered by movement: so I'm surprised to see a pic of a recumbent deer, is that a still from a video, or what?

Just a guess but I imagine that there is a number of shots of the deer walking prior to it sitting down. Later, while sitting, the pigeons triggered the camera again to capture the picture shown. Very nice.

Even when lying,which they sometimes do for a couple of hours at a time,they are constantly looking and listening .
A turn of the head or even a flick of an ear is enough to trigger a still.
A typical hour of resting will generate 15-20 frames.
