I live in a ground floor flat in inner London and have had quite a few species of moth just found sitting on the overhang outside the front door. I was wondering about running a small trap just to see if I can pull in a few more species. I was thinking of a proper blacklight to minimise glare for the neighbours. My main worry would be someone nicking the battery. Would it be worth the effort?

Can you keep the battery inside the flat and run the cables out the window?

Can you keep the battery inside the flat and run the cables out the window? Nige I guess I could do that or go for a mains cable and I can't imagine anyone would nick the trap itself. My main worry is that a low wattage blacklight might be a waste of time and money in an urban area.

Worth a try, you might be surprised Although I have a bit of greenery around my estate there's also a lot of streetlight, yet I've now had over 300 species to the garden. Nige
